PRESS RELEASE - POST SHOW
F&A TRADE SHOW ENDS ON POSITIVE NOTE
Trade visitors from India & overseas plan to enhance their sourcing from the country
The seventh edition of the three-days Fabrics & Accessories Trade Show, which ended June 6, 2010, attracted 3,442 top-notch personnel from the textile industry. Inaugurated by Shri Murugesh R. Nirani, Honorable Minister for Commerce and Industry, Government of Karnataka, the show continues to be an important event for the country’s textile industry in spite of the tough times. There was no doubt amongst both exhibitors and visitors that the event was being held at the right time, especially when the textile industry was coming out of the recession.
Featuring over 100 stalls, the event had a large number of new comers besides the regulars with their new range of products. The event showcased the entire gamut of products like shirting fabrics, suitings, bottom weights, dress materials, embroidered, gray, imported, knitted, outwear, printed, processed silk, specialty, terry, velvet, woolen and furnishing fabrics. Accessories included buttons, hangers, interlinings, labels, laces, motifs, stones and studs, tapes, threads – sewing and embroidery, zippers, and also a host of industry related services.
There were buyers from neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Russia, CIS countries, France, South Africa, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. The visitors from India were topnotch personnel from the buying houses, garment manufacturing units, exporters, etc.
“This show has been a very enriching experience for me,” said the Honorable Member of Parliament, Republic of South Africa, Ms. N. Gina. “I have learnt a lot about the fabrics of this country. I am impressed and I will make sure that some of these products get back to my country.”
Ms Gayathri L. K. Divisional Manager – Merchandising, Shahi Exports Pvt Ltd., Bangalore, noted: “It was really a good show. I was able to identify products, like the chemical laces, we were looking for.”
Mr. Kamal Grover, Manager – Domestic Retail Solution, Avery Dennison India Pvt Ltd., Bangalore, said: “This is the correct size for a show. Sweet and to the point! This was a show where I felt happy and satisfied I could visit all the stalls completely.”
Ms Jasveen Kaur, Group Leader, Triburg Consultants Pvt Ltd., New Delhi, said they could find something they were really looking for like 100 percent Modal fabrics. The new concepts like the tie and dye fabrics and a lot of other new concepts displayed at the show was really an eye opener. Instead of sourcing fabrics from countries like China, by visiting this show, we felt we could source our requirements from here itself.”
Exhibitors too were immensely satisfied with the visitor flow and could be seen in intense and animated discussions through all the three days of the show.
Said Mr. Kunal Agrawal, Olive Tex Silk Mills Pvt Ltd., Mumbai, “Our diary is full of visitors’ business cards and some of them surely look potential.”
Mr. Kapil Shorewala, Sanchi Creations, Mumbai, noted: “The show is really getting better. This is the first time that I will be staying back to meet local customers. This is a big turn around.”
Mr. Rakesh Parakh, Marketing Manager, Pioneer Embroideries Ltd., noted: “The trade visitors were top quality. We hope to convert many of the contacts we made here into regular business.”
Mr. A. Bhoobalan, General Manager - Trims Division, Bombay Rayon Fashions Ltd.: said: As far as we are concerned, we have got a good response, potential visitors, potential enquiries. We also had a lot of foreigners visiting our stall. They came from Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Russia amongst others.
“We are very happy! We met a lot of good and potential customers. We’ll surely be here the next time with a bigger stall!” signed off Mr. Margin Dunn, Sales Manager, The Lurex Company Ltd., who had flown in specially for this event from U.K.
